So I usually order a long black with cold milk on the side. I say usually because in some situations I feel silly placing that order and go with a flat white. Sometimes, and in some company, it seems pretentious. In other situations, a flat white seems unsophisticated. I have just had the realisation that I sometimes alter my coffee order so that other people don’t feel uncomfortable.
I was thinking about what an odd habit “coffee diplomacy” is before I sat down to write this. I googled ‘what your coffee order says about you’. The long black apparantly is the drink of no nonsense men who would rather read the broadsheets than check their i-phone. I am a single mum on the DPB. I do read the paper though.
So, I intend to explore this habit and talk to other people about whether they change their order for any odd reasons. I wonder what I will find. I suspect those no nonsense men perched behind the Dom down at Mojo may not?
